After two years of maturation in a combination of American oak, French oak, and barrels that previously held Chilean Carménère wine, Tepaluma Gin Añejado reveals a new dimension of our gin. In the glass, it presents a beautiful translucent, luminous golden color, clean and bright. On the nose, it is rich and enveloping, led by delicate notes of vanilla, sweet wood, and spice, accompanied by subtle hints of honey and caramel. The influence of the different barrels emerges with elegance, with the oak bringing depth and structure, while delicate woody notes evoke incense and even recall the complexity of certain woods used in the maturation of Japanese whiskies.
In the background, subtle citrus and semi-fruit notes emerge, with orange clearly taking the lead, accompanied by delicate touches of grapefruit and a distinctive hint of white pepper. The aromatic profile is refined and balanced, with no single element seeking to dominate the others.
On the palate, it surprises with its elegance and balance. Despite its 44% ABV, the entry is smooth and expressive, with a pronounced presence of winter citrus, particularly orange, echoing and amplifying what appears on the nose. The texture is warm and enveloping, while the different woods build layers of flavor and depth.
The influence of American and French oak, together with the Carménère barrel, is particularly captivating. Each type of wood contributes a different dimension and, together, they create an integrated and harmonious expression. The Carménère barrel brings cohesion and a distinctive character to the blend, while time in oak transforms the gin without concealing its identity.
