Tasting Notes

With an incomparable aroma that encapsulates the essence of Chile’s southernmost region in a bottle, Tepaluma® Maqui Gin: Ancestral Spirit dazzles with smoothness and elegance, unveiling the perfume of the noble maqui berry.

Its fragrance gradually envelops the senses, leaving notes of dark fruits and a delicate herbal finish. Its deep ruby hue is a tribute to the use of fresh fruit at its peak, evoking even the intense colour of the finest red wines from Chile’s Central Valley.

On the palate, the experience intensifies: bold and tempestuous, like an unexpected summer storm. Unique flashes evoke notes of dark berries intertwined with the unmistakable flavor of maqui, layered with hints of blueberry, pomegranate, and a citrusy finish that gently caresses the palate.

It is, without a doubt, the color and fruity aroma of the southernmost world bottled—a homage to the style of a sloe gin but with the untamed soul of Patagonia.

 Our Ruby:

MAQUI BERRIES
(Aristotelia chilensis)

The maqui berry is a small, dark fruit native to southern Chile and Argentina, deeply rooted in Mapuche culture, where it symbolizes strength and a profound connection to nature.

This “superfood” grows wild in the temperate forests of Patagonia, thriving in rich, moist soils. Its harvest season begins in late summer, between January and March, when the berries reach full ripeness, bursting with vibrant color, aroma, and flavor. Handpicked to preserve their delicacy and retain their exceptionally high antioxidant properties, the maqui berry stands out with its deep purple hue.

It is the essence of our Tepaluma Maqui Gin, a tribute to nature and the ancestral richness of Chile.
