Every May 13th, the world celebrates far more than just a drink. We celebrate a culture, a ritual, and a way of connecting people, places, and emotions: World Cocktail Day.
The date commemorates the first official appearance of the word “cocktail” in a newspaper on May 13, 1806, when editor Harry Croswell, from The Balance and Columbian Repository in New York, defined a cocktail as “a stimulating liquor composed of spirits, sugar, water, and bitters.” More than 200 years later, that definition still stands as the foundation of modern mixology.

What began as a simple mixture evolved into a global cultural expression where technique, creativity, identity, and terroir coexist within a single glass. Today, cocktails are not only consumed, they are interpreted. Every ingredient tells a story. Every bartender shares a vision. Every spirit speaks of its origin.
At Tepaluma®, we deeply believe in that connection between terroir and mixology. From Chilean Patagonia, we craft spirits born from the forest, pure water, and botanicals gathered with respect and patience. And on a day like this, we wanted to pay tribute to one of the greatest classics ever created: the Martini. Simple in appearance, immense in complexity. A cocktail that has transcended eras, styles, and trends, becoming one of the absolute icons of global cocktail culture.
To celebrate this World Cocktail Day, we reinterpret it with Tepaluma® Aged Gin, our spirit matured for two years in French and American oak ex-Carmenere barrels, bringing depth, structure, and notes that perfectly complement the subtle elegance of bianco vermouth.

In a world where mixology continues evolving toward more sensory, authentic, and sophisticated experiences, the classics still remind us of something essential: balance never goes out of style. From iconic bars to small artisanal distilleries, World Cocktail Day also celebrates those who keep this craft alive bartenders, producers, mixologists, and lovers of meaningful conversations shared around a glass. A culture now experiencing a new era shaped by creativity, local ingredients, and the pursuit of authentic experiences.
And perhaps that is the true magic of a great cocktail. Not only what is inside the glass, but what it inspires.
